Sitting here at home, stuck indoors due to the extreme cold out there, I started doing some research into ways to alternatively effect film before processing. I had read that one could use Ambien (a sleep medication) to create an effect before developing. I had no Ambien on hand but I did have 3 Lunesta pills that I was never going to take. So I melted them in some hot water, then I soaked the film in them along with water for 20 minutes. I rinsed well after and then developed normally after. I see no difference in the film, so maybe they don't do anything and maybe they only work on color film. I also used a Holga close up lens taped to the Diana (with focus set to infinity) to get the camera up close to me. I had two flashes setup, one on camera (the Diana F+'s actual flash) and a second Nikon SB-700 set to remote, diffused and firing off to my left (camera right). Oh, and my GF dumped me with a "Its not you it's me" email today, so I was kind of depressed and needed something to do to take my mind off the sadness. I don't know if this session accomplished that but at least now I know that Lunesta doesn't do shit on BW film. And that I am alone. Someone hug me. Or do a film swap with me.
